Flavor Flav Offers to Replace Jordan Chiles’ Lost Bronze Medal with Bejeweled Clock

While Snoop Dogg was taking swimming lessons with Michael Phelps and learning dressage with Martha Stewart, fellow hip-hop icon Flavor Flav was busy attending as many Olympic events in Paris as possible. The Public Enemy rapper flew in to support the USA women’s water polo team and didn’t stop his support when the games ended.

On Monday night, August 12, Flavor Flav, known for his oversized clock pendant, offered U.S. gymnastics star Jordan Chiles a new piece of bronze jewelry after she was ordered to return her bronze medal from the individual floor exercise competition. The sport’s governing body stated that her coach had filed a late protest over her scoring.

“FLAVOR FLAV::: USA gonna Fight The Powers that be,,, but in the meantime between time,,, I gots yo back @jordanchiles Hit me up 👍🏾,” wrote Flav on Instagram, sharing a video of a large, bejeweled bronze clock pendant spinning in front of an American flag. USA Gymnastics announced that the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal to reinstate Chiles’ medal, initially received after the August 5 final.

Chiles originally finished in fifth place, behind Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who tied at 13.700. Chiles’ first score was 13.666. After her coaches argued that she deserved more points for difficult maneuvers, the judges adjusted her score to 13.766, putting her in the bronze medal position. However, CAS ruled that Chiles’ challenge was four seconds too late, causing her to lose the medal.

Before the games started, Flav showed support for the women’s water polo team, pledging $1,000 and a free cruise for the underpaid athletes. He also offered to help 24-year-old discus hurler Veronica Fraley, a Vanderbilt University student struggling to afford her rent. “I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW,” Flav replied to Fraley’s post.
