The modular and repairable laptop from Framework is currently generating a lot of attention, but is currently only available in the USA and Canada. In our interview at the end of October, Framework founder Nirav Patel did not want to go into more detail about the further timetable, but in the Company blog you will find more recent information: Orders from other countries should be possible before the end of the year. However, delivery will not take place until the beginning of 2022.
Europe and Asia in focus
Although Framework has not yet said which countries it will be exactly, the focus should be on Europe and Asia. Keyboard for Belgium, Germany, England, France, Italy and Spain are listed. In the Far East, South Korea and Taiwan are on the list.
In the blog post, Framework also lists the requirements that international expansion requires, using Germany as an example. The company does not just want to install a German keyboard and include a suitable power supply cable, but is also planning German-speaking support that is located in our time zone. In addition, there are various legal requirements from CE certificates to local terms and conditions and data protection requirements to customs clearance and returns management.
