Telecinco’s iconic Spanish television series, “Los Serrano” is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the Telecinco network is holding a reunion on Saturday, 22 April which promises to be an emotional one. The series premiered in April 2003 and lasted eight seasons with a total of 147 episodes. The production, produced by Globomedia, tells the story of the Serrano family managing the “Hermanos Serrano” tavern and the “Garcilaso de la Vega College” in fictional Santa Justa neighbourhood, located on the banks of Madrid’s Manzanares river.
The series became one of Telecinco’s most watched programs and even became Spain’s most viewed program in 2004. It also received numerous awards including the Ondas Award for Best Spanish Series, the Gold Microphone Award, the Fotogramas de Plata Award, the Zapping Prize, and a Prize granted by the Television Academy.
In honour of the 20th anniversary, “Factory of Fiction” will present a marathon of the show with highlights of the most emblematic episodes. Meanwhile, two of the series’ stars, Fran Perea and Víctor Elías, have released an album titled, “One plus one equals twenty,” which is an attempt to depict the last 20 years of pop music in Spain. The first song on the album is “One plus one equals seven,” the main song from the series and a fan favourite. Perea collaborated with the group “Despistaos”, also celebrating its 20th anniversary, to produce the hit song.
In addition to the album, a tribute to the show was given through a music video featuring performers from the cast. The video clip, titled “One plus one equals seven” was a perfect celebration and had Antonio Resines, Belén Rueda, Verónica Sánchez, Natalia Sánchez, Jorge Jurado and the lead performers Fran Perea and Víctor Elías.
