The frenzy began earlier this year when the actress and her co-star, Ryan Gosling, visited CinemaCom and picked out outfits inspired by the characters they played, Barbie and Ken.
Back then, Gosling wore a T-shirt that read the name of the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, written in Mattel’s Barbie font. For her part, Robbie wore a 1950s-style balconette bra and a pink and white checkered miniskirt, courtesy of Prada.

In recent weeks, for all of his film-related appearances, Robbie has been inspired by the doll’s looks: vintage silhouettes reminiscent of her heyday, and pinks of all varieties, from raging fuchsia to the cakes.
A few days ago, during his visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show, she wore a Valentino minidress with a square neckline, straight sleeves, and high-heeled shoes in intense magenta; then, at a presentation in Los Angeles, she wore another bespoke Valentino creation, patterned in hot pink polka dots.
Wearing an ’80s halter neckline, white shoes and a pink Chevrolet Corvette at her side, the ultimate Barbie accessory, Robbie sparked a frenzy online. At every opportunity, the actress chooses an outfit inspired by the doll.

Another of the chosen looks was a Bottega Veneta twinset in pastel tones, to which she added a pair of 1960s sunglasses and open-toed Manolo Blahnik sandals. Flawless blonde hair and a beaming smile are other staples of the Barbie uniform that Robbie wears everywhere.
Stepping off the plane in Australia
Stepping off the plane in Australia, the actress wore a Barbie-inspired look that featured pink, even from their suitcases. Less than a month after the big premiere, still not much is known about the plot of the feature film directed by Greta Gerwig.
“A doll that lives in ‘Barbieland’ is expelled into the real world for not being perfect enough,” says the trailer as a preview without giving further details. The actress not only wears designs inspired by the doll during press conferences but also in her day to day.
Here she can be seen after having lunch with her husband in a restaurant in Australia. However, in a statement published by Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Robbie gave a sign of how her character will be.
“She is someone who promotes confidence, curiosity and communication during childhood, and empowers children to imagine themselves in aspirational roles, from princess to president,” revealed the actress, who in addition to giving life to the doll Mattel produced the film with her husband, Tom Ackerley, and best friend, Josey McNamara.
“I am very honored to take on the role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences around the world. ”, she added excited about this new challenge in her career.

Robbie is not the only one in charge of playing Barbie, nor will Gossling be the only Ken in history: while Issa Rae and Hari Nef will be in charge of embodying the other versions of the doll; Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa will don the muscular and handsome groom’s suit. The villain of the story, on the other hand, will be played by Will Ferrell.
