Fuel consumption falls by 4.5% year-on-year in July

The consumption of automotive fuels fell by 4.5% in July compared to the same month of the previous year, to 2.46 million tons, and was 8.6% lower than in July 2019 (before the pandemic), although it increased slightly, 0.2%, compared to June 2022.

According to data published this Thursday by the Strategic Reserves of Petroleum Products Corporation (Cores), in the first seven months of this year consumption has been 6.3% higher than in the same period of 2021.

GASOLINE CONSUMPTION FALLS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE FEBRUARY 2021

Gasoline consumption decreases in July for the first time since February 2021 and does so by 1% compared to the same month last year, although it once again exceeds that of July 2019, with 1.8% more than in the same month of that year.

In the first seven months of this 2022, gasoline consumption has increased by 14% compared to the same period in 2021.

The consumption of automotive diesel has been reduced by 5.5% compared to July 2021 and has been 11.1% lower than in July 2019.

In the accumulated of the year, its consumption has increased by 4.5% compared to the first seven months of 2021.

In the case of kerosene, a fuel used in aviation, its consumption in July has increased by 54% compared to the same month a year earlier, although it has remained 13% below that of July 2019.

Its consumption in the first seven months of the year has doubled (148.1%) compared to the same period in 2021.

As regards liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), its consumption increased by 11.7% in July compared to the same month of the previous year, although it fell by 17.6% compared to July 2019.

In the annual accumulated, LPG consumption increased by 9.6% compared to the same period in 2021.

Fuel oils saw their consumption increase by 33.6% in July compared to the same month of 2021, although like the rest of the products, except gasoline, it is still below that of July 2019, specifically 2.7% .

In the first seven months of the year, fuel oil consumption has increased by 28.5% compared to the same period in 2021.

The consumption of diesel in general has fallen by 3.1% compared to July 2021 and has been 4.6% lower than in the same month of 2019.

In the first seven months of the year, its consumption has been 3.7% higher than in the same period of 2021.
