The popular fantasy action RPG video game “Elden Ring” might be making its way to film or television, as hinted by George R.R. Martin on his blog. Martin, the “Game of Thrones” author who contributed to the acclaimed game’s worldbuilding, playfully addressed the rumors in his post. “Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on ELDEN RING… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?” he wrote.

This would be the first adaptation for FromSoftware, the game’s developer, renowned for its notoriously challenging titles, most notably the “Dark Souls” series. While Martin didn’t outright confirm any adaptation plans, his coy tone and mere acknowledgment of the rumors have sparked curiosity.

In addition to this tantalizing hint, Martin shared his experiences at the 2023 Nebula Awards, where “Elden Ring” received accolades for its game writing. “I did the worldbuilding for that project; Hidetaka Miyazaka and his team did all the rest,” Martin explained. “We were both honored with trophies. I was not at the awards banquet, however, and in any case only one trophy was on hand for the event. That one went home to Japan, where it truly belongs.” He later received his own trophy on June 22 of this year.

The release of “Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree” on June 21 has reinvigorated the gaming community’s enthusiasm for this challenging RPG. Players have eagerly returned to the game, striving to conquer its notoriously tough bosses. The expansion has garnered significant praise, with Games Radar describing it as “the best Elden Ring content out there.”

Released in February 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, “Elden Ring” is set in the fantastical Lands Between. The game tasks players with repairing the Elden Ring to become the new Elden Lord, utilizing magic and weapons in their quest.
