After a long wait, we were finally able to see again Elden Ring, the new game from one of the most popular studios of the last decade such as From Software, this time in collaboration with none other than George RR Martin, creator of Game of Thrones. Martin, who believes that the game is a sequel to Dark Souls -something denied from the Japanese study-, it has been a long time since he stopped working at Elden Ring, as he has assured in an interview.

As can be read in said interview, Martin reveals that was involved in a very early phase of its development, when they asked him to create a world in which to set the Elden Ring. Thus, he thought of a world “with a detailed background”, according to account, and became involved in the creation of characters, story and setting. However, that was several years ago, although Martin and From Software have remained in contact ever since.

“These games are like movies, they take a long time to develop,” begins by explaining Martin, who knows a lot about taking things easy. “Basically, they wanted a world to set the game. The creation of a world is an important factor in fantasy and science fiction. You are not only talking about characters and story, but also about a setting, which is as important as everything else. : Tolkien’s Middle Earth, Robert E. Howard’s Hiborian Era or the Isaac Asimov Foundation universe “.

Years without seeing From Software

“I worked on a detailed background for them, and they went from there,” continues Martin. “So it’s really been a number of years since I last saw them, although they frequently contact me and show me some monsters they’ve designed, special effects or things like that. The game has developed slowly, and now that it’s coming out in January, I’m as excited as anyone can be. “
