Jessica Rodriguez’s Dream Met Gala Look Pays Tribute to Fashion Great Karl Lagerfeld
Jessica Rodriguez, the host of Despierta América on Univisión, fulfilled her lifelong dream of attending the Met Gala in New York City. Her mission for the night was to cover the red carpet and wait for the arrival of famous celebrities to report back to her morning program.
This year’s Met Gala paid tribute to late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who left an unforgettable legacy in the fashion industry with his work at Chanel, Fendi, Chloé, Balmain and his own brand. To be in keeping with the theme of the event and Lagerfeld’s iconic style, Rodriguez enlisted the help of Venezuelan designer Ashley Stambouli to create her dream suit.
Stambouli used tweed for the suit, a signature material of the Chanel brand and one of Lagerfeld’s favorite fabrics. The dress was tailored masterfully with haute couture techniques, and it took the team two weeks to complete, with every detail and seam done by hand.
The suit was inspired by Lagerfeld’s love for chains intertwined with ribbons, which were incorporated into the design in the belt, neckline, and back of the suit. Stambouli added her own personal touch with a flared skirt and marigold straps that fell off the shoulders, which were removable to make a big impact on the carpet.
The suit was completed with sensational makeup and hair styled by artist Kat Polanco. Polanco achieved luminous, radiant skin with Charlotte Tilburry Magic Serum Crystal Elixir & Magic Cream moisturizer and serum, a light application of Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation, and a touch of Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder no Powder.
To highlight Rodriguez’s eyes, Polanco used the Charlotte Tilburry Pillow Talk 3 compact palette, and for her lips, the Very Victoria Matte Lipstick and the final gloss Fenty Beauty Fussy Gloss Blomb. The makeup was finished with Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray for long-lasting coverage.
