Grammys 2022: Tribute to Taylor Hawkins

yesterday in Las Vegas was held the 64th edition of the Grammy Awards. The Foo Fighters, who had announced that they would not attend the ceremony following the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins, received 3 Grammy Awards.

A first in the category “Best Rock Album” for Medicine at Midnight, “Best Rock Performance” for the title that opens the album “Making a Fire” and “Best Rock Track” for another single from the album, “Waiting On A War”.

In the band’s absence, a video montage highlighting the talent of the late drummer was broadcast to the sound of the band’s classic “My Hero”. During the event, pop star Billie Eilish wore a t-shirt with the missing drummer.

On the other hand, before a remarkable performance by John Legend in the company of Ukrainian musicians, President Zelensky, appeared on the screens for a message addressed to the artists present and to the entire music industry. During his speech, the Ukrainian head of state said:

Tell the truth about the war on your networks, on TV. Support us in every way possible, all but silence. And after that will come peace […] Our musicians wear bulletproof vests with the link of evening wear. They play for the wounded in hospitals, even for those who can’t hear them.

Other awards of the evening include the 50th-anniversary reissue of George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass album, Joni Mitchell’s compilation album Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol.1: The Early Years (1963-1967) and Police drummer Stewart Copeland’s divine Tides album, his album recorded with Indian composer Ricky Kej.
