Just when we think Grey’s Anatomy Couldn’t top last season’s cameo list, the medical drama surprised us again.

On Tuesday, September 7, ABC confirmed that the star of Grey’s, Abigail Spencer, will reprise her role as Dr. Megan Hunt for season 18. According to Deadline, Dr. Hunt will appear in the first episode of the new season, which premieres on September 30.

For those who need a refresher, Dr. Megan Hunt is the younger sister of Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). Like Owen, Megan is a trauma surgeon who dramatically disappeared for 10 years while working abroad. In season 14, she was rescued and eventually reunited with her brother and her fiancé Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson), who briefly had a relationship with Dr. Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo).

Megan, Nathan, and their adopted son Farouk later moved to California to start over. However, that wasn’t the last time we saw Dr. Hunt, as she also appeared in season 15.

Spencer’s return to Grey’s comes less than a week after Kate Walsh announced her return to the medical show as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery. In a video on Instagram, Walsh said “it feels so good to be home again” and gave a shout out to the series creator. Shonda Rhimes, the protagonist Pompeo and the rest of the cast.

Pompeo reacted to the news by joking online, “Let’s give them what they want … quality television drama.”

Walsh exited the series in 2007 to star in a Grey’s spin-off, Private Practice. Fortunately, Walsh made a few appearances on Grey’s over the years, but was last seen in a season eight episode titled “If / Then.”
