Grey’s Anatomy is the great medical drama on television and it shows it today with its 17 seasons, which face other series of the same genre such as The Good Doctor O New Amsterdam. Throughout his deliveries we learned many stories, such as that of the Emerald City Bar de Joe, which has been conspicuous by its absence. What happened?

In early June, season 17 of the show created by Shonda Rhimes arrived, with a special seasoning for viewers: the Coronavirus. Just like in real life, they translated the health crisis into fiction and we saw the main character, Meredith Gray, battling the disease to show what health workers live inside hospitals.

Many shows tend to have an establishment that the characters go to on a daily basis and it becomes a favorite location for fans. This is what happened to the Emerald City Bar, located in front of the Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, where doctors frequented him to have a drink and blow off some steam. The truth is that it has not appeared for a while and there is a reason that fans should know.

Also know as Joe’s Bar, in the series is attended by Joe, interpreted by Steven Bailey, who was last seen in the seventh installment. While he was not a main figure, he was one of the most beloved supporting characters. At the time the actor explained his departure: “They didn’t find enough courage in my character to continue… It was friendly. It was just one of those things that, after doing so many episodes, I expected a little more, and they didn’t want to do that, and voila. That’s Hollywood “.

On the supposed return of Joe, the showrunner Krista Vernoff gave details and assured: “I know everyone had expected Joe to be an Easter egg, but … Joe has moved on, the character and the actor. We keep him alive through his eponymous bar.”. Some fans put forward theories as to what happened to him and some claim that he retired to raise his children, although this was unconfirmed.
