EA and Codemasters have officially announced Grid Legends, the newest installment in the Codemasters franchise, during today’s EA Play Live event. The latest installment in the racing series mixes classic racing gameplay with live action sequences in its story mode.
With a greater emphasis on history than previous games in the series, Grid Legends puts you in the role of a racer who participates in the Grid World Series. It’s a much more cinematic racing game than Codemasters is accustomed to, and it shares common ground with the 2015 Need for Speed reboot, which also featured live-action story scenes.
Those story sequences will feature actors like Ncuti Gatwa, de Sex Education, y have been created with XR, the same technology used during the production of The Mandalorian.
As for the playability, there is a wide range of vehicles: super sports cars, large displacement vehicles, open wheels, etc. And with the new race creator you can choose how you want to race at any time, instead of being locked in asphalt races. The Grid World Series will take your story to places like London, Moscow and Strada Alpina.
There will be more than 130 routes, including real tracks and iconic GRID street circuits. There will also be more than 100 vehicles available. Codemasters is offering brokers more of everything they were already used to.
Grid appeared in 2019 and was launched before EA acquired Codemasters, so Grid Legends will be the first in the series under EA supervision. The first Codemasters game for EA is F1 2021, of which we already conducted our analysis a few weeks ago.
