Meeting Kate Bishop, a modern Marvel comics icon
The creation of Kate Bishop dates back to 2005, in the middle of the era of Young Avengers. Marvel, in the early 2000s, looked for a way to reboot some of its most representative characters (for example, the Ultimate Universe) and in parallel created new superheroes and superheroines. This is where the role of Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung comes into play, who gave color and shape to Katherine “Kate” Bishop.
We are facing the first woman to become Hawkeye after Clint Barton, from The Avengers, and Wyatt McDonald, from the Supreme Squad. Between his powers and abilities we find fencing, archery, boxing and Jiu-jitsu. In the series we will know his aspirations, tastes and interests as well as his maturity process as a future Hawkeye in the UCM.
Comic book readers will remember Kate Bishop from her Civil War debut back in 2006-2007; Although it was not until the Young Avengers Presents and Secret Invasion collections (will the Secret Invasion have space in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) that we began to recognize it more strongly.
In 2015 Jeff Lemire and Ramón Pérez were given command to create the popular series All-New Hawkeye, this time focused on Clint Barton and Kate Bishop herself; just as it will happen in this series.
During these six episodes that make up the Hawkeye series we will discover the true leading role that Bishop takes and if, as everything seems to indicate, it will be one of the pillars of the New Avengers of the MCU.
