Heidi Range Talks About Leaving Sugababes to Focus on Motherhood
Heidi Range, 39, who replaced Siobhán Donaghy in the Sugababes in 2002, recently spoke out about her decision to leave the group. Despite the reunion of the original members of the Sugababes, Siobhan, Mutya Buena, and Keisha Buchanan, Heidi admitted that being a mother is now her main focus in life.
Speaking to New! magazine, Range said, “When I was in the Sugababes, I lived outside of a suitcase for about 15 years. And when I had Aurelia, I just wanted to be home, and I was lucky to be in a situation where I could make that decision. That’s been my main focus ever since I had her, and then Athena came along. It’s all been about the girls.”
Range, who is married to Alex Partakis and has daughters Aurelia and Athena with him, also mentioned the challenges of motherhood. “It can be stressful at times when you can’t get everyone out on time or you’re trying to get work done, especially with our little one. She’s at the age where you need eyes in the back of your head. Someone always has to be watching her. She’s also quite the feisty little thing. So she’s always on the go!”
Despite the challenges of motherhood, Range has no regrets about leaving the Sugababes. “When you’re in a band, there’s a lot of stress on you as a person, and it’s always all about you. But when you have kids, suddenly it’s not just about you anymore. The focus isn’t on what my hair is like or if I’m a size 8 or a size 12, there are bigger fish to fry.”
Heidi Range may have left the Sugababes, but she has found a new focus in motherhood. Her dedication to her daughters is clear, and she has no regrets about her decision to leave the band.
