Henry Cavill, the well-known actor who has played the most recent version of Superman in the cinema as part of the Zack Snyder films for the DCEU and that now premieres the new season of the series The Witcher on Netflix, he explained in a recent interview with Collider his motivations to continue playing the Man of Steel. And it is that after his last role in Justice League (and the Snyder Cut), nothing else is known about the future of the interpreter as Clark Kent, even more so if we take into account that there are already two new projects underway about new versions of Superman.
Henry Cavill wants to remain Superman
And it is that the actor himself does not believe that his stage as Superman in the cinema has come to an end, ensuring that it is something personal: “I think Man of Steel was a great introduction story, an origin story for Superman. I leave a lot of room for him to grow beyond that and become the hero we know. Batman v Superman took a complicated turn onto a darker route and it was a story from Batman’s perspective, so it didn’t show the aspects of Superman that I’m looking forward to teaching. Zack Snyder’s Justice League leaned a little bit more on that, ”explains Cavill.
“I was more appreciative of his tone, but I would love the opportunity to play the Superman we all know and we love comics, as a continuation of its development and seeing the hero. That would be very exciting for me, because there is an opportunity to tell a lot of interesting story. It is a matter of finding the right hook to have a good and idealized character like Superman, that there are wonderful opportunities to delve into what it means to exist for him and the difficulties that come with it. When you have to save the whole world How hard is that for you? That could be something interesting to explore, ”concludes the actor.
The truth is that after so many years since his last intervention as Superman and the new projects announced about the character, it seems difficult for us to see Henry Cavill in the role again. Recently, Dwayne Johnson, which will premiere next year Black Adam, assured recently that his character will face Superman in the future. But against what version of Superman?
