Guerrilla Games, creators of the Killzone saga and the celebrated action adventure Horizon Zero Hour, have shared new information about the new open world of their next video game, Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Aloy’s adventure that will come to PS4 and PS5 early next year. This has been published by PlayStation through its official blog, detailing the keys and enhancements that will make the Forbidden West universe a more “credible” ecosystem.

“Everything Has a Purpose” at Horizon Forbidden West

Thus, from Guerrilla Games they have delved into the novelties of the behavior of the non-playable characters, of the tribes in general and the new systems created for the occasion, allowing the player to feel the environments of Forbidden West as “if they came to life”.

“When you travel the Forbidden West, nothing can be out of place. The Guerrilla Living Worlds team works on those aspects that make the game world full of authenticity and life: the tribes, settlements and their inhabitants. Everything we do in the world has a purpose, “he explains. Espen Sogn, the studio’s chief designer of worlds.

So much so, that its creators have shared a brief description of the game’s tribes, with the Tenakh, fighting experts who are always ready for battle, the Utaru, focused on work in the field and with deeply rooted customs in the group, and the Oseran, the most patriarchal and vehement. All of them “are part of a system of crowds”, with different behaviors according to the circumstances and customs of each group.

Aloy’s first steps in the new world

“One of the first destinations Aloy will visit in the Forbidden West is Squeaky Chain, an Oseram post on the border, ”explains Espen. “It is full of natural resources and opportunities for adventure and danger. Those who stay there do so for various reasons: to escape the problems of the Conquest, to earn some quick shards, to fulfill their dreams or for the mere thrill of exploring. This busy stall includes a bar where Aloy can meet new and interesting characters”.

On the other hand, from Guerrilla Games they also dedicate a part of the article to the creation and improvement of weapons and outfits: “Aloy can use the machine parts she has acquired to forge weapons and outfits, and upgrade them to make them even stronger. As you travel through the Forbidden West, stick with the machines that expose their horns, claws, fangs, or tails. Although the first improvements will not need more than a braided cable or a robust plate, to achieve more modification spaces, more powerful advantages or better resistances you will have to extract the pieces of a Terremamut, for example, before lowering it”, They continue from Guerrilla.

“We hope that the player will discover a world that seems more alive and credible than ever. We have added many details to the routines of its inhabitants. […] We hope that the players will stop for a moment to observe what is happening around them and experience moments that they will later treasure ”, concludes Espen, explaining the different and very varied routines that we will meet while we visit the different settlements of the game.
