Jeff Bezos’ Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle
Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon, started his business as a bookstore in the 1990s. Known for his lean and lanky physique in his early years, Bezos became one of the three richest men in the world. With this evolution, his physique also changed, adapting to the lifestyle that he began to have with so much money and showing himself with a successful and good-looking image.
From a Wimpy Physique to an Athletic Body
In 2017, Bezos adopted exercise as his faithful companion every day to work muscles and began to follow special diets with foods from his $14 billion dollar acquisition called Whole Foods, which focuses on healthy products. He hired Wes Okerson, an action trainer for actors Tom Cruise and Gerard Butler, as his personal trainer. Reportedly, Bezos does low-impact weights and resistance training such as rowing, weights, and outdoor exercises with hiking and running uphill in mountains, swimming, and kayaking trips.
The Importance of Sleep
Unlike other millionaires who work late and get up super early, Jeff is committed to getting at least eight hours of sleep every night. He believes that a good number of hours of sleep is clinically recommended to rest well and take care of cognitive functioning, mood, and mental health. In fact, in a talk he gave at the 2018 Economic Club, the billionaire said, “For me, I need eight hours of sleep. I think better, I have more energy, my mood is better.”
Healthy Diet
Bezos supplements his personal and fitness habits with a diet rich in protein. Okerson is known for adding special foods to his training routines, especially through ketogenic diets, which are high in fat, protein, and low in carbohydrates. During an attendance at a conference in Sun Valley in 2017, Bezos said that he had never in his life eaten healthily with specific foods, but always ate what tasted good, like jars full of cookies. His foray into health food was likely after the acquisition of Whole Foods, a health food chain. According to reports, the diet of the third richest man in the world is based on Mediterranean octopus with potatoes, bacon, and green garlic yogurt for breakfast. For the afternoon, normally the businessman eats poached eggs with more seafood, green leafy vegetables, sweet fruits, and elements of Mediterranean gastronomy. However, he only sometimes treats himself to Cheetos, which are his favorites.
Quality Time with Family
In addition to resting at night and eating a healthy diet, Bezos spends his time going out to have fun, taking pleasure trips, and spending quality time with his family and his fiancee Lauren Sanchez.
In conclusion, Jeff Bezos’ transformation from a wimpy physique to an athletic body is inspiring. He is proof that anyone can achieve a healthy lifestyle by following a good exercise routine, getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and spending quality time with family. Let his journey be an inspiration to us all.
