WhatsApp Introduces Chat Lock Function with Password Protection
WhatsApp has confirmed a new feature that will allow users to block specific chats with a password. This update addresses the concerns of users who prioritize privacy above all else.
Other WhatsApp Features
The application has introduced several other new features, such as the ability to hide the typing indicator from contacts and a message editing function.
How Chat Lock Works
The new WhatsApp Chat Lock feature allows users to protect the privacy of their messages by setting up a personal four-digit password (PIN). The only person who knows the password can access the messages. Blocking a chat is simple- touch the name of the person or group and select the “Block” option.
Activating the Chat Lock Function
To activate the chat lock function, follow the below steps:
- Find the chat you want to protect and tap on it to open the conversation.
- Tap on the contact’s name and scroll down to tap the “Block” option.
- Choose your preferred method of protection- face, fingerprint, or a key- and confirm the blocking.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your messages will go to a distinct folder accessible only with your biometric data or unique password. Your blocked messages will no longer be previewed in the notification area of your device.
From the development team at WhatsApp, they plan to add more options to this feature, such as locking chats on paired devices and customizing passwords for chats.
