Apple played it in the design of the iPhone X by introducing that aesthetic element of the notch, the upper tab that gave the terminal all the personality and allowed the company to expand the screen even more. And the result was a triumph and a look that other brands would copy. And just when most rumors indicate that the notch will disappear from the iPhone in the models of the next 2022, suddenly we see the tab on another popular Apple device: The MacBook.
The notch problem on MacBooks
Introduced last week, the MacBook Pro 2021 has a redesign in which two elements stand out at first glance: Smaller margins that allow the Liquid Retina XDR display to look impressive, and a notch to aid design and integrate the FaceTime HD front camera. But also its most striking visual feature is becoming one of its first problems.
As we’ve been seeing for a couple of days, owners of new MacBook Pro models have seen how much various applications such as the operating system have usage bugs, given that application menus and status bar items can be hidden under the notch where the laptop’s camera is housed. And the solution is through a patch of rescaling the display area of the screen.
a new support document Apple’s official published yesterday details an option to “Scale to fit under the integrated camera” on macOS that it will forcefully scale the apps to only use the screen below the notch. It is a temporary solution for the applications that do not adapt to the notch of the new Apple MacBook Pro, since they are not all that are giving this failure.
The temporary solution proposed by Apple
The artist @Jatodaro taught this scaling feature on Twitter, showing how by checking the “Scale to fit under the integrated camera “ in the information window of an application, screen shrinks for all apps. The full size (notched) screen will only reappearr if the application is closed or if the box is unchecked. “While the app is running (even on the bg), your screen will scale ”, Jadotaro points out.
Apple also mentions in the support document that this scaling feature will disappear once developers update their apps to deal with the notch properly. And therefore it is a temporary fix that helps, but at the same time knocks the lens out of the eye, as the scaling solution fixes this, but results in a screen display as if it had precisely the kind of large bezels that the inclusion of the notch reduced.

- Click on the Finder icon on the Dock and then in Applications in the Finder sidebar.

- In the information window that opens, select “Scale to fit under the integrated camera. “
