Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016 and quickly became a hit for the streaming service. Season 3 ended with the gang thwarting a covert Russian operation to weaponize the dimensional gate. Hopper, who had become Eleven’s surrogate father, makes the ultimate sacrifice to shut it.
However, in a closing scene set in a Russian jail, we watch Russian guards discussing an American detainee before a monster from the other side of Upside Down is fed to another inmate.

Season 4 Of ‘Stranger Things’ Has How Many Episodes?
Season four of “Stranger Things” has nine new episodes. Volume one will premiere on May 27 with seven episodes, while volume two will premiere on July 1 with the remaining two episodes. According to the show’s makers, the split release is due to the season’s length being twice that of a regular season.
Hopper’s Return In Stranger Things Season 4
Jim Hopper’s whereabouts are the greatest mystery in Hawkins. Of course, we already know eleven and the crew will return, but we do not know when. It remains to be seen how they will handle his eventual reappearance. Stranger Things Season 4 will have a “massive, tremendous bombshell regarding Hopper’s past,” according to David Harbour.
It has to do with one of the marked boxes eleven discovers in Hopper’s cache around the halfway point of the second season. “There are five boxes,” Harbour adds, “one of which holds Brenner’s material from Hawkins Lab, one of which says ‘Dad,’ one of which says ‘Vietnam,’ and one of which says ‘New York.”
Therefore, if we do not pay off these three things that we’ve built throughout the season, it indicates that [the Duffer brothers] are lousy writers. The Duffer brothers are also excellent authors.”
“I’m thrilled to expose this side of the character,” he concluded. It’s something I’ve known from the first frame of the first shot, but we haven’t spoken anything about it yet.

During a press run for Black Widow, Harbour spoke with Total Film about how Hopper’s reappearance was similar to Gandalf’s in Lord of the Rings.
He remarked, “I’ve had such chats with [the Duffer brothers] since the first season.” “That concept of Gandalf the Grey fighting the Balrog and subsequently becoming Gandalf the White was always intriguing to us.” It is the concept of the character’s resurrection.
“In a way, Hopper had to shift mythological. You could not keep going the way he was going. In some manner, he must revive. As a result, it was a fantastic chance to do so. As a result, we will witness a different individual in the future. He is the same man, but he is acting differently this time. It’s fantastic to be able to participate.”
