Hurricane Sam has strengthened in the Atlantic, reaching Category 3, and is moving towards the US coast, informs CNBC.

Sam, which is located about 1,700 kilometers east of the Leeward Islands (near the coast of Venezuela), is moving northwest at a speed of 16 km / h. It should be noted that, until this Saturday, no alerts were activated in the US.

According to calculations by the US National Hurricane Center, Sam has maximum winds of 195 km / h. This Sunday is expected to become a category 4 hurricane with winds of 225 km / h. According to CBS News, projections show that it could pose a danger to the US Caribbean coast.
