RUMOR ALERT: Illumination May be Producing “The Legend of Zelda” Animated Film

The world of animated cinema may soon turn its focus to video games once again. Following the success of “Super Mario Bros. The Movie” (with a 75% box office rating), Nintendo has reportedly authorized an animated film adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda.” This movie would be produced by Illumination, the studio responsible for the animated feature of the famous plumbing brothers.

The project is not yet official, but according to “The Hot Mic” podcast hosted by Jeff Schneider (an insider), both Universal and Illumination are reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Nintendo to make the movie a reality. The companies seem to be very interested in this collaboration due to the success of the recent Mario movie.

As of now, no concrete details have been released regarding the production team or casting crew for the animated film. However, it’s understandable why Illumination is interested in the project. They have currently become a consistent hit-making studio with successful franchises like “Despicable Me,” the Minions spin-offs, “The Secret Life of Pets” (with a 74% box office rating), “Sing,” and “Super Mario Bros.” Furthermore, “The Legend of Zelda” has a massive fan base and could potentially be a hit as well.

Stay tuned for more information as the deal unfolds. Additionally, keep reading to learn more about a sequel to “The Legend of Zelda” titled “Tears of the Kingdom,” which reviews say is the best game in the franchise so far.
