Marcos Antônio Pereira Gomes, known as ‘Zé Trovão’, and one of the leaders of the truck driver mobilizations that this Thursday blocked the roads of half of Brazil, has been detained in a hotel in Mexico, reports Or Balloon.
Last week, the judge of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, issued a prison order against the truck driver for “promoting violent acts against the National Congress and the STF” for September 7, Independence Day of Brazil.
During that day they took place protests with coup overtones headed by the president himself, Jair Bolsonaro, which has caused a whole political turbulence in the country and the idea of an impeachment process against him has intensified.
The police had been tracking ‘Zé Trovão’ ever since and discovered that the truck driver had left the country on a flight to Mexico City before the magistrate ordered his arrest. Now it will be delivered to Brazil.
During this week in which he was disappeared, ‘Zé Trovão’ continued to publish videos on social networks inciting protests. In fact, shortly before his arrest he reported in a video that he was in Mexico and that the police had located him.

“At some point I am going to be detained. I am not going to run away anymore. I am tired of this. For those who do not know, I am in Mexico and the Brazilian embassy has just contacted the hotel I am in. So, in at some point, probably, the police will come to pick me up and take me into custody, “he said.
In other recording, also this Thursday, the truck driver addressed Bolsonaro: “If you really want that [desbloquear las carreteras], ask us that, directly. We are here, always supporting you. ”
He continues: “If you want us to clear the roads and get back to work, I have two things to tell you. The first is that my life is destroyed, I am being persecuted politically, with a prison order and at the risk of never seeing my family again. I am not going to prison, I am not a criminal. “
