The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) has released CloudStack 4.16. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) software is used to deploy and manage extensive networks of virtual machines. Compared to the previous version, there are 22 major innovations as well as over 244 changes and fixes. It is again a release with long-term support (LTS).
What’s new in CloudStack 4.16
In the eleven months since version 4.15 was released, Apache has been working on new features: CloudStack 4.16 can be used with OpenSuse and Rocky Linux and offers fine-grained control over the dynamic scaling of CPU / RAM in virtual machines. Comments and bulk actions in the UI are just as possible as the use of the new API endpoint UpdateVlanIpRange
which is used to reduce or expand a public IP address range.
The legacy UI, which was already deprecated in version 4.15, is no longer included in the new version, as announced in January. Apache recommends that CloudStack users implement a migration path in their production environment.
Migrationshinweise
To migrate from previous versions provides Apache upgrade instructions. Developers should first perform an upgrade on a test system before the production system receives the new version. For example, the CloudStack database (MySQL) must be backed up and it must be checked whether integrations from third-party providers also work with the new version.
Apache CloudStack is available as open source software. The current version receives long-term support, which covers a total of 18 months.
All changes since version 4.15 as the highlights in Apache CloudStack 4.16 can be found in the release notes.
