Is There a Post-Credits Scene?
Credits: A24

Fans are wondering whether MaXXXine, the latest film in Ti West’s horror-slasher film series, has an end-credits or a post-credits scene. MaXXXine is the sequel to 2022’s X, taking place roughly six years after that film’s conclusion. Set in the 1980s, the story follows Maxine Minx, who tries to achieve fame in Hollywood, only to get embroiled in a dangerous situation involving a mysterious but deadly killer.

So does MaXXXine have an end-credits, mid-credits, or post-credits scene?

Yes, MaXXXine has an end-credits scene.

Many movies in recent times like Argylle and Road House have adopted a trend of including at least one post-credit scene for their films. Thus, it is no surprise that fans were wondering whether MaXXXine had a mid or post-credits scene of any kind.

The first two films in the franchise, X and Pearl, had post-credits scenes, albeit not in the traditional sense. These scenes were teasers for follow-up films. X’s post-credits scene served as a teaser for Pearl, which was released six months after X came out, while Pearl’s post-credits scene was the teaser for MaXXXine. Additionally, Pearl had an extended ending shot after the credits which was just an extension of the final scene.

MaXXXine’s end-credits scene does not necessarily set up a sequel. However, it appears to leave room for a future film.

MaXXXine’s director, Ti West, teased in a recent interview with the YouTube channel What’s Under the Bed? that he had a weird idea for a future film, but was very dodgy with his response. He opined that he first wanted to see how MaXXXine would perform and whether audiences would receive it positively before deciding to pursue the development of a fourth film in the franchise.

MaXXXine stars Mia Goth as Maxine Minx, alongside a supporting cast comprised of Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.
