“It is not necessary that all messages stay there forever”: Zuckerberg introduces a new function in WhatsApp

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg ad this monday a new option temporary messages on WhatsApp, which together with Instagram is part of the group of companies of its consortium. Starting in November last year, WhatsApp users were able to send temporary messages that automatically disappeared within seven days. Now, that period can be a week, 24 hours or 90 days.

“Today we are launching a new option for temporary messages in WhatsApp, so you can make all new chats disappear by default within 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. Not all messages need to stay there forever“Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook account.

According to the information disclosed in the website WhatsApp official, the recent option can only be applied to new messages, and not to those previously sent or received. The user can now determine, in all their chats, which and when their messages will disappear.

Thus, in an individual chat, both users can activate or deactivate temporary messages. In a group chat any participant can do it, but the administrator will have the power to change the settings to determine who can activate or deactivate that option.
