(TYO:8233), which advanced 3.66%, 63.00 points, to close at 1.00, andIsetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which rose 3.32%, 42.00 points, to dismiss the session at 1.00.
At the bottom of the index endedEisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523), which fell by 6.22%, or 596.00 points, to close at 8.00. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770), meanwhile, cut 3.27%, 44.00 points, and closed at 1.00, whileTaiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) fell 2.68%, 120.00 points, to 4.00.
The red numbers prevailed over the greens on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by a difference of 2207 versus 1305, and 284 closed flat.
TheNikkei Volatility, which measures the volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 5.95% to 18.53.
Crude oil futures for January delivery rose 1.55%, or 1.20, to $78.44 a barrel. As for other commodities, Brent oil futures for February delivery rallied 1.79%, 1.50, to $85.39 a barrel, while gold futures for December delivery rose 0.62%, 10.75, to $1.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY fell 0.34% to 138.46, while EUR/JPY cut 0.11% to 143.46.
The dollar index fell 0.27% to 106.35.
