Since the release of the first installment of the saga in 2014, “John Wick” has become one of the most popular and successful franchises in film history, releasing three more films of the successful assassin played by Keanu Reeves and approving the development of new derivative series or spin-offs.

On March 24, Lionsgate premiered “John Wick: Chapter 4” (or “Baba Yaga”, in Latin America), the fourth installment of the saga, which resumes the fight of the deadly assassin against the High Table, which seeks to kill him after he broke the rules of the Continental Hotel.

The film is also the latest work by Lance Reddick, the actor who was in charge of playing Charon, and who died days before the premiere. Actors such as Ian McShane or Laurence Fishburne repeated their roles, while Halle Berry was one of the great absentees.

The Records of John Wick 4

With only three days on billboards, the fourth part of the murderer’s story has already broken some records, some of its own within the franchise and others that achieved tapes from other productions.

According to AP, “John Wick: Chapter 4” exceeded expectations and during the weekend grossed $73.5 million at the box office, an increase of more than 5 times what the first installment of 2014 did.

Added to the success of having the best start in the franchise and in the recent history of cinema, it should be mentioned that is the highest-grossing that Lionsgate has released since the pandemic, surpassing “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard”, “Glass Onion”, “Run”, among others.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 70% of viewers of the fourth part of the John Wick saga are men, while 55% of the audience was between 18 and 34 years old. That is, the tape attracts a young male audience mostly. In addition, the large format IMAX and Premium screens obtained 38% of the total collection.

The New Line and DC film fell 68%, raising 9.7 million dollars in its second weekend, while in the same period of time, the sixth delivery of “Scream” took 8.4 million.
