Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp starred in several films in the late nineties and early 2000s, but beyond their working relationship and the development of their acting career, the performer left an indelible mark on the personal life of the actress.

Recently, Christina revealed to Andy Cohen during a broadcast of the program ‘SiriusXM’, that her co-star in the film ‘Mermaids’, of 1990, explained to her when she was only nine years old what homosexuality was because of a conflict that arose on the film set.

“Something had happened on set. One person would yell at another and they would say something about homophobia that I didn’t understand. I was in the dressing room with Winona– who was Then Depp’s girlfriend – and she couldn’t explain it to me, so she called Johnny and he told me what it was. I remember him telling me, ‘It’s when a man wants to have sex with another man and when a woman wants to have sex with another woman,'” Christina Ricci described.

Cohen pointed out the irony of Christina talking to Winona and Johnny when her other co-star, Cher, who many consider a queer icon, was also in the cast. “I love that Winona Ryder had to call Johnny Depp to get this story that he couldn’t describe in some way, I mean, you had Cher in the next dressing room,” he said. “I know, we should have run to her,” Ricci joked.

Nearly a decade later, the actress teamed up with Johnny again and filmed her first sex scene with him in ‘Sleepy Hollow’, but joked that it was a somewhat “weird” scene because she considers him “like a brother”.
