Mortal Kombat 2: Karl Urban in Final Talks for Johnny Cage Role

The first installment of Mortal Kombat may not have reached its full potential in the box office, but it was a success on HBO Max and Warner Bros. has approved its sequel. With many classic characters yet to be included in the live-action, Karl Urban is reportedly in final talks to play Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 2.

The New Zealand actor has gained fame for his roles in The Boys, The Lord of the Rings, Dredd, Star Trek, and Thor: Ragnarok. Johnny Cage is a star filmmaker with martial arts knowledge, introduced in the first video game of the franchise.

Mortal Kombat 2 will be directed by Simon McQuoid and the script is in the hands of Jeremy Slater. Although the first movie received mixed reviews, it was a success among fans and became a streaming success.
