Kim Cattrall shares the future of And Just Like That
Kim Cattrall has revealed her plans for ‘And Just Like That’, the ‘Sex and the City’ spin-off series. Despite reprising her role as Samantha Jones for a cameo appearance in the upcoming second season, the actress has made it clear that this will be her only return. She stated during an interview on ‘Today’ that she won’t be coming back again, saying, “This is as far as I’m going to go.”
However, Cattrall emphasized that she will never truly say goodbye to Samantha. She expressed her emotional attachment to the character, likening Samantha to many other roles she has played throughout her career. Cattrall appreciates the impact Samantha has had on her life and values the character even after leaving the show.
Addressing her well-known feud with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cattrall was reassured by show bosses that they wanted her to feel comfortable before agreeing to do the cameo. She shared her experience of receiving a call from the CEO of HBO, who expressed a desire to accommodate her and ensure her enjoyment and comfort during the filming process. Cattrall appreciated the consideration shown to her.
During the filming of her cameo, Cattrall had a “wonderful afternoon” capturing her appearance on set. She and her partner, Russell Thomas, finished shooting at around four o’clock and went home to enjoy a dry martini. When the host of the interview, Jenna Bush Hager, commented that having a martini was exactly what Samantha would do, Cattrall jokingly replied, “Cha-ching. Yeah!”
Although fans may be disappointed that Cattrall will not be returning to ‘And Just Like That’ beyond her cameo, they can take solace in the fact that she will always cherish Samantha and the impact the character has had on her life.
