Lady Gaga will star in the sequel to ‘Joker’, alongside Joaquin Phoenix

After weeks of speculation that Lady Gaga would join the DC Universe with the performance of the next Harley Quinn in the sequel to ‘Joker’, various reports have confirmed the participation of the American star, although they have not revealed the details of her role.

According to the site Entertainment Tonight, the interpreter of ‘Bad Romance’, will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix, ‘In Joker: Folie à Deux, the next sequel to the 2019 film.

While details about the character that the ‘House of Gucci’ star will play in the film are not yet known, there is speculation that she will star in the role of the Joker’s co-conspirator, Harley Quinn – her psychiatrist in the asylum who becomes her colleague in the crime.

Gaga’s portrayal of the celebrated first lady of the ‘Prince of Crime’ would be the third current image of the role. Margot Robbie played Harley in ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Birds of Prey from the DC Comics Extended Universe, while Kaley Cuoco voiced the legendary character in the HBO Max animated series ‘Harley Quinn’.

With the sequel to ‘Joker’, Lady Gaga would continue to expand her acting career after participating in ‘House of Gucci’, in 2021, and her Oscar-nominated role in the remake of ‘A Star Is Born, in 2018.

In June, Warner Bros. announced the full title of the ‘Joker sequel along with the release date. The follow-up film will hit theaters on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after the release date of the original, which grossed about a billion dollars at the box office and earned Phoenix an Oscar for best actor.
