Laura Pausini Named 2023 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year

Italian pop icon Laura Pausini has been named the 2023 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. The award recognizes Pausini’s career as a multilingual artist and her commitment to supporting various social justice causes. Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, praises Pausini, stating that she is “one of the most talented and beloved artists of her generation.”

Pausini began her career in music at the age of 19 and skyrocketed to fame after winning the 43rd Sanremo Music Festival in 1993. Her impressive discography has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide, and she has made nine world tours, with three of her songs making the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs list.

In a statement, Pausini expresses her honor, stating that the “Spanish language has opened doors” for her, allowing her to “explore and live music without barriers or limits.” She has also been recognized with a Golden Globe and a Grammy for Best Original Song, in addition to numerous other awards and honors for her humanitarian efforts and advocacy work.

Pausini’s tribute concert and gala will take place during Latin Grammy week in Seville, Spain, in November 2023, and will feature performances by her friends and fellow artists. The Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award highlights musicians and their achievements in the recording industry and their dedication to humanitarian causes.

Previous honorees of the award include Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, and Ricky Martin. Pausini joins their ranks as a deserving artist and humanitarian.
