Obi-Wan Kenobi has been one of the most anticipated Star Wars series since its announcement in 2019. Last year, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returned to the Star Wars universe and fans jumped with excitement. The series premiered on Disney+ in late May 2022 and received a positive response. Although the series was originally presented as a limited project with only one season, it has been rumored that a second season is on the way.
With a total of six episodes, Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and written by Joby Harold. The cast includes Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend and Vivien Lyra Blair in the role of Little Princess Leia. Recently, Vivien Lyra Blair revealed in an interview with Bleeding Cool that she hopes to play Princess Leia again in a spin-off.
Blair mentioned that she hasn’t heard of any possibility of returning for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, but she would love to return as Leia in a new series centered on the beloved princess and her droid Lola. She even suggested a possible cameo as teenage Leia at the end of season two. However, there is no confirmation of a spin-off yet.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the dramatic events of Episode III. In the series, Obi-Wan is sent to rescue the little princess Leia Organa who has been kidnapped as bait by bounty hunters related to the Inquisitors. Leia’s inclusion in the show could be one of the most important appearances in the franchise in recent years and not only because it brings back the beloved character, but because her participation in the story gives a deeper meaning to Obi’s story.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was a hit on Disney+, becoming the most watched premiere on the platform, surpassing even The Mandalorian. The Star Wars franchise continues to bet on the expansion of its universe in television format, with multiple projects already underway, including Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must face allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire. The series examines Obi-Wan’s relationships, Vader’s inner conflict and Leia’s early life, filling in some gaps in the original Star Wars canon.
