Lucasfilm hires YouTuber known for Luke Skywalker deepfake work

The popular deepfake YouTuber known as Shamook has signed on to work with Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic company. The YouTuber has apparently made an even better version of the “cameo” in The Mandalorian.

Spoiler Alert: Contains information about the end of season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Shamook, is a name famous for his deepfake videos on YouTube. For example, he placed Tom Cruise and Brendan Fraser in the remake of The Mummy. Or The rejuvenated Luke Skywalker at the end of season 2 of The Mandaloriancorrected it a bit.

Indiewire also confirmed that Industrial Light and Magic has signed with Shamook. While his position is not specified, Industrial Light and Magic says the company is very interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Company; “ILM is always on the lookout for talented artists, and we hired Shamook accordingly. Over the past years, ILM has invested in machine learning and artificial intelligence to produce powerful visual effects. It’s great to see the cutting edge of technology.”

Shamook also stated that he accepted the new job and that they will continue to make YouTube videos together. One of the projects that stand out at this point is to add old actors to Spider-Man movies.
