Presented last June during WWDC 21, macOS Monterey is finally a reality and from today you can download the most recent version of Apple’s computer operating system. But as is usually the case with every new version of an OS, there are models that do accept it and can be updated, and there are other Mac systems that are not compatible due to the time they have been on the market.

Large operating system updates always take time to install, taking your machine out of service for a few minutes.
