James Gunn creates 600 different versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

Director James Gunn has worked closely with Marvel to co-create 600 different format versions of the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. According to Disney’s vice president of finishing and stereo, Evan Jacobs, these changes were not made to alter the history of the movie, but rather to provide a different experience for every moviegoer.

The aim: to maximize screen size for audiences

The modifications made to the film have been designed to ensure that every exhibitor has the option to maximize their screen size for the audience. As a result, each version was created specifically for a different aspect ratio. This means that the amount of action seen by each viewer could vary, depending on where they watch the movie.

A record-breaking feat

Although all MCU movies come in several different aspect ratios, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has broken the record for the most. Despite the challenge this presented, Jacobs told The Hollywood Reporter that the team was able to make it work, thanks to the extended delivery schedule.

Early reviews are promising

The reviews for the film have already been released, with many of them being positive. To learn more about The Independent’s verdict on the movie, click here.
