The Olympic medalist goalkeeper, captain of the Mexican National Team and renowned gamer, Memo Ochoa, will invest 1 million dollars to support the industry of sports and blockchain video games, among other related businesses.
Paco Memo, current goalkeeper of America club, will become the main partner of the fund specialized in video games since 2016, based in Silicon Valley, Altered Ventures.
Your participation in this business will be directly and strategically, within this mixed fund that combines investments in public and private markets around the interactive entertainment industry. From time to time, it will focus on startups in Latin America.
The sectors where the former Ajaccio goalkeeper and Altered Ventures will direct the combined investment of 1 million dollars will be within the convergence between video games and blockchain technologies (NFT games, “Play-to-Earn” games), projects for the metaverse of reality virtual, augmented reality and esports, directly into teams and individual talents.
More Mexicans behind the investment
This specialized investment fund was created by the Mexican investor Mario Valle Reyes since 2016. Valle, is also known for being part of the ranks of Electronic Arts for more than 5 years. At this company he eventually served as director of emerging markets development.
It is not the first time that Ochoa has been involved in technology businesses
From having been the cover of the video game FIFA 08 and FIFA 09, to having its own streaming channel with more than 200 thousand subscribers. Recently the former Malaga goalkeeper, also announced its participation in the largest startup in Mexico, the unicorn Kavak and has been involved as a strategic partner of other businesses aligned with its vision and values since 2019.
