Mexico alerts consumers of fuel tap failure on Yamaha motorcycles

Mexico City Jul 20 (EFE) .- The Mexican consumer protection office issued an alert on Tuesday “due to a possible misadjustment of the fuel cock tube” on 378 Yamaha motorcycles.

The models involved in the recall are vehicles of the type XTZ125E model 2020.

In a statement, the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco), in coordination with the company Yamaha de México, reported that the call stems from a poor pressure adjustment process for the fuel cock tube by the supplier.

So “there is a possibility that you have cracks in the part”, although he warned that, in the worst case, fuel can seep from the tap.

Yamaha de México pointed out that, to correct this defect, it began on March 19, effective January 7, 2023, the factory modification campaign.

“The fuel tap of the affected units must be replaced with countermeasure parts,” he said.

He indicated that those interested in reviewing some of the 378 affected units should contact them through their dealer network or through the company’s website.

Or, failing that, make an appointment at the company’s contact center where they will be given information and directed to the nearest distributor to carry out the countermeasure at no cost.
