Mexico Stock Exchange loses 0.42% and spins four sessions down

Mexico City, Nov 18 (EFE) .- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) lost 0.42% in its main indicator this Thursday to settle at 50,831.95 points, with which it spun four days down.

“The Index of Prices and Quotations (IPC) of the Mexican Stock Exchange closed with a loss of 0.42%, spinning four sessions down and closing below the level of 51,000 points for the first time since October 7” Karla Bajos, an analyst at Banco Base, told Efe.

The expert explained that the losses were concentrated in the telecommunications sector (-1.59%), health (-1.48%) and materials (-1.02%).

Losses were recorded in 19 of the 35 companies included, highlighting Grupo Cementos Chihuahua (-2.81%), Kimberly Clark (-2.47%) and Liverpool (-2.21%).

In contrast, the best performing issuers were Banregio (4.51%) and Banbajio (4.33%).

Thus, the Mexican index closed at a level of 50,831.95 points, equivalent to a yield of 15.35% in the accumulated of the year.

The Mexican peso depreciated 0.09% against the dollar, trading at 20.76 units per greenback on the interbank market.

The IPC closed at 50,831.95 units with a loss of 213.15 points and a negative variation of 0.42% compared to the previous session.

The volume traded in the market reached 256,829 million titles for an amount of 18,522 million pesos (about 783.9 million dollars).
