Miami, Oct 1 (EFE) .- Francisco Pichel, an aspiring mayor of the city of Miami, was arrested accused of impersonating a policeman in the Florida Keys, in the extreme south of the United States.
The authorities of the county of Monroe, to the south of Miami, indicate that Pichel, of 59 years, faces charges of “impersonating officers” in events that occurred last May.
According to the arrest warrant, Pichel parked his vehicle on private property in Key West and when the owner approached him he showed them a gold license plate identifying him as an alleged officer with the county Sheriff’s Office.
Pichel was arrested Friday on a $ 5,000 bond after being reported by the property owner who reported the vehicle’s license plate number, according to jail records.
According to the press, Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo has complained that Pichel is also interfering with confidential police affairs of that institution.
“I understand that Pichel works or has worked as a private investigator collecting ‘dirt’ for Commissioner (Councilman Joe) Carollo and other elected officials,” Acevedo said in a memo.
Pichel, a former Miami police officer, had already run for City Commission (Council) in the past, but lost.
