Moon Knight is originally a Marvel stable superhero created by writer Doug Moench (Black Mask, Deathlok) and cartoonist Don Perlin (Ghost Rider, The Defenders). This fictional character first appeared in the publication Werewolf by Night #32 in the summer of 1975. Marc Spector is here a mercenary hired by a mysterious Committee to capture a werewolf. Faced with the enthusiasm of readers for the Knight of the Moon, the latter has the right to his own adventure from June 1976 in Marvel Spotlight #28-29 with the same authors at the controls.
After many adventures, Moon Knight finally gets his own series in 1980 during which his origins are explored including the resurrection of his “human” alter ego in the tomb of Khonshu. The character later became a recurring theme within the House of Ideas to the point of experiencing the joys of a series adaptation produced by Marvel Studios and intended to enrich the MCU via Disney+.
Moon Knight Release Date
The moon knight mini-series is officialized in August 2019 on the occasion of D23 (The Official Disney Fan Club). After hiring Jeremy Slater to oversee the project and Mohamed Diab to direct it, filming for the marvel cinematic universe’s new series program began in April 2021 and ended in October of the same year. Moon Knight, which is an integral part of Phase 4 of the MCU, debuts on March 30, 2022, on Disney+. The series has six episodes that will be broadcast at a rate of one per week.
Moon Knight Cast
The Moon Knight series offers here the services of a prestigious cast. In the title role, that of Marc Spector aka Steven Grant aka Moon Knight, we find the actor Oscar Isaac whom you probably know for his performances in the films Dune, Ex Machina, and especially the Star Wars posology in which he plays Poe Daemon. At his side is Ethan Hawke (Welcome to Gattaca, Training Day), the late Gaspard Ulliel (A Long Sunday of Engagement), and finally F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus, The Grand Budapest Hotel). They play Arthur Harrow, Anton Mogart, and the god Khonshu respectively.
Moon Knight Plot
After witnessing the upheavals of the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home and waiting for those to come in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU invites us to follow the adventures of a man who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. Steven Grant, a simple shop clerk who reluctantly shares his body with mercenary Marc Spector, delves into a strange story that involves powerful Egyptian gods, a resurrection, and a Moon Knight also known as Moon Knight.
Moon Knight is a project led by Jeremy Slater (Death Note, Fantastic Four, The Umbrella Academy). This American writer and producer occupies a central role on the series, that of creator, and rightly supervises its production. The direction is entrusted to Mohamed Diab who collaborates with Justin Benson (Spring, The Endless) and Aaron Moorhead (Spring, The Endless) to shoot the half-dozen episodes. Finally, the musical compositions are the work of the Egyptian artist Hesham Nazih (El-Asliyyin, The Blue Elephant).
