The first season of Sweet Tooth arrived on Netflix in June with an eight-episode story that explores the aftermath of The Great Crumble, an event through which hybrid beings (human-animals) began to emerge. Sweet Tooth himself is half human, half deer. Y He goes on a dangerous adventure to discover his origins and seek a new beginning next to its aloof protector.
Jim Mickle y Beth Schwartz fueron showrunners, executive producers and writers of the series, with Mickle also directing. Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran were the executive producers alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, while Team Downey’s Evan Moore produced the series, which is an adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s critically acclaimed comic book series.
The Downeys previously discussed the process to bring the Vertigo comic series to the screen. They expressed his desire to honor the original graphic novel clinging to their central themes and keeping their style intact, while at the same time presenting “a nicer place” for the public by removing some darkness from the plot.
