Nina Persson, the singer who sold 15 million records with The Cardigans, is the guest star to Contrast Ibiza, a cycle that celebrates its first edition tomorrow, October 16, at the Parc Reina Sofía de Vila, starting at 9:00 p.m. Will accompany you on stage Martin Hederos, keyboardist for The Soundtrack of our lives, the Swedish band that Noel Gallagher defined as his second biggest influence behind the Beatles. Both are already on the island to enjoy culture, heritage and gastronomy and to prepare for the concert this Saturday.
The insular director of Education, Culture and Heritage of the Consell d’Eivissa, Miquel Costa, has valued the Contrast Ibiza proposal and stressed that “the event has international artists of the stature of Nina Persson who choose Ibiza to perform.”
The Councilor for Tourism and Commerce of the Ibiza Town Hall, Dessiré Ruiz, has stressed the importance of this type of cultural proposals being carried out “outside the summer months.”
Director of Contrast Ibiza, David Riu, for its part, thanked the institutions for their support to carry out the first edition of this series of concerts whose spirit is to program international artists with different proposals and in emblematic spaces. In this sense, he explained that “Nina Persson has only done three concerts this year and this is the third. It is a very special concert and he really wants to perform in Eivissa ».
Persson and Hederos will perform songs from the bands they are both part of and will also perform songs that have marked their lives and are an indisputable influence on their careers, such as Leonard Cohen O Rufus Wainwright.
Nina Persson will also include in her repertoire songs from her only solo album, Animal Heart, which she published in 2014. The Swedish singer currently combines her classes at the Copenhagen Conservatory of Music with the concerts she offers on rare occasions. That is why the direct of Contrast Ibiza is special.
While nightlife awakens from its long and forced lethargy due to the pandemic, Ibiza opens up to other artistic proposals. It is the case of Contrast Ibiza, an event that aims to bring top-level artists to the public in smaller capacities than the big festivals and that he always bets on unique proposals that cannot be seen in other parts of the country.
The festival follows in the footsteps of Contrast Mallorca, which in its first two editions (December 2020 and June 2021) has scheduled Jesse Malin (the first North American artist to perform in Spain since the beginning of the pandemic) already Vernon Reid with Checkout Overall and DJ Logic, who created for the occasion the Yohimbe Brothers project, a musical proposal that could not be seen anywhere else in Europe, in addition to Nina Persson, who in June performed at the Castell de Bellver in Palma (Mallorca) and sold out for two weeks before the concert.
“We will play songs that are part of our careers and we will also perform versions of songs that we love,” explains Nina Persson about the intimate concert she will star in with Hederos, former member of the Swedish band The Soundtrack of our lives.
