Nintendo Switch is very close to surpassing 100 million copies sold and surpassing Wii

Nintendo’s latest financial results have revealed that the company sold 8.3 million Nintendo Switch in the past six months, bringing the console’s lifetime sales to about 93 million.

At Nintendo financial report For the six months ending September 30, 2021, the company announced 8.3 million Switch hardware sales, of which 6.45 million were Standard Switches and 1.82 million were Switch Lite. The additional 8.3 million copies make Nintendo Switch reaches 92.87 million consoles sold. That means it’s getting close to Nintendo’s biggest bestseller, the Wii, which sold 101.63 million consoles. Regardless, the Switch has already eclipsed Nintendo’s third-best-selling console, the NES, which sold 61.91 million copies.

In software, Switch has sold 681 million games to date. The best-selling game in the system is still Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with 38.74 million copies sold. Unsurprisingly after its popularity in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons ranked No. 2 with 34.85 million copies sold. For its part, Super Mash Bros. Ultimate occupies the final position of the podium with 25.71 million copies sold.

In other Nintendo related news, Nintendo 64 controllers for Switch have been sold out until 2022.
