Norwegian police detained a suspected Russian spy in the Arctic city of Tromsø on Monday, public broadcaster NRK reported on Tuesday, citing the Nordic country’s PST security service.
The man, who worked as a scientist at the University of Tromsø, had been posing as a Brazilian citizen, but police believe his real identity is Russian, NRK reported.
The man poses a “threat to fundamental national interests” and must be expelled from Norway, Hedvig Moe, deputy head of the PST, told the NRK.
