Nvidia’s boss Jensen Huang confirms that the GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB will go on sale on December 7th, 2021. The gaming graphics card not only doubles the storage capacity compared to the previous GeForce RTX 2060, but also uses shader cores with a boost clock frequency of 1650 MHz, like the GeForce RTX 2060 Super 2176. The previous GeForce RTX 2060 is a bit slower with 1920 shader cores.
Opposite to the website The Verge gab Huang anthat the GeForce RTX 2060 will be 12 GB more expensive than the previous GeForce RTX 2060. The Nvidia boss did not give a specific price recommendation, but the official RRPs of all graphics cards since 2020 are no longer worth anything. All models clearly exceed the recommendations in retail.
So far, a GeForce RTX 2060 is occasionally available from 525 euros, but most models cost at least 100 euros more. The recommended price three years ago was 330 euros. There is not much space for the faster GeForce RTX 3060 – by the way, also with 12 GB of RAM – there is not much space: Shops offer manufacturer cards from 650 euros, some more are available from 740 euros. The GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB is likely to be a drop in the ocean in a diffuse market.
