Dive crews searching for a missing teenager in a pond at Mixville Park in Cheshire, Connecticut located his body Monday afternoon, according to police.

Police and firefighters rushed to the park around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday after the 18-year-old was reported missing.

The teenager was visiting his family from Ecuador and was not swimming well according to the police. He was in the water with a friend and when the friend reached the shore he noticed the teen was not with him, police said.

Divers were called in to search underwater.

They resumed the search Monday morning.

On Monday afternoon, divers found the teen’s body in an area of the pond where they had been concentrating their efforts, according to Police Chief Neil Dryfe.
