Online workshop: programming native iOS and Android apps with Flutter

In order to keep development costs for mobile apps low, hybrid frameworks are used for cross-platform programming, which often have the disadvantages of web apps. Google’s Jetpack Compose and Apple’s SwiftUI are now attempting to put the development of native apps with declarative frameworks, which are regarded as time-consuming and expensive, on a modern footing, but Flutter has already established itself as a quasi-standard for hybrid mobile development – and promises high-performance apps for both central mobile platforms.

In the two-day online workshop “Mobile apps with Flutter“Interested developers learn the basics of app programming with Flutter, starting with setting up the toolchain. In addition, it is about daily development practice, for example when designing user interfaces and animations. The areas of network and file storage should not be missing – as well as the platform-specific programming with Flutter and of course security aspects.

The workshop does not exclude the special features and stumbling blocks. The Dart programming language used for Flutter should not pose any major challenges for developers and is covered in passing.

The online workshop, limited to 15 participants, is intended for all app developers who want to program mobile apps with Flutter. Basics of app development and working with Apple’s Xcode or Android Studio are required. The online workshop is held by Klaus M. Rodewig and Pascal Friedrich and carried out via the BigBlueButton open source platform. An up-to-date browser (Firefox or Chrome) and a microphone or headset are sufficient to participate.
