Online workshop: Writing better iOS apps with test-driven development

Test-driven development of iOS apps: An online workshop by Mac & i gives iOS developers a detailed introduction to the subject over two days in September. Participants learn in a practical way how to expand and improve a small app through the use of tests. On the program is how to write and use automatic tests for the common components in the development of iOS apps. The workshop also teaches the properties of robust tests and what makes automatic tests so valuable.

In the two-day workshop, participants learn how to independently write tests for the common components in iOS development and how to add tests to existing source code. Reading and evaluating test results in Xcode and in continuous integration environments is also taught. A complete overview of the contents of the workshop – from the basics to UIViews and UIViewController, alerts, the special features with regard to SwiftUI to snapshot tests – can be found here: Test-driven development of iOS apps.

The mob programming method is used to improve existing tests and add new functions. In mob programming, one person operates the keyboard and types the source code, while the others think and decide together how the source code and the tests are to be written.

The workshop is aimed at iOS developers who can create at least simple apps with Swift and UIKit and who work on a Mac with Xcode 12. Existing experience with test-driven development is not required for participation.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 16 and Friday, September 17, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The price for participation is 1249 euros. For a few days – until August 19 – the ticket is still being offered at the early bird discount for 1125 euros.
